Why we don't sell hours

“I do tutoring classes 2 times a week but they only help slightly”A student, on an AP Chemistry forum
“I am not convinced that a math tutor can help.”A parent of an AP Calculus student, on a parent forum

They're both right about the usual kind of help.

An hour with a tutor goes over the topic again. Then the week happens without them.

Nobody grades the practice the way the test will. Nobody is there at 9:30, when the homework gets hard. Nobody tells you what happened.

The sessions are the part you can see. The grade is decided between them.

So our two sessions train for the next test, on the clock. And we built the rest of the week around them.

Every week, in every subject

Every family gets these two, from the first week to May.

Two private sessions a week, with the same AP tutor.

Fifty minutes each, live, 1-on-1 and recorded. Exam-style problems, and your kid holds the pen.

They're built on your kid's own class: the teacher's units and the next test. We keep a map of the syllabus and of every test that comes home.

The same two days and time every week: Mon/Thu, Tue/Fri or Wed/Sat. Never once a week.

Includedworth about $4,800 a school year

Every written answer graded by the next day.

Short timed practice sets each week, built from the Gap Map. A person grades every written answer, never software.

Point by point, the way the College Board does, with the why next to each point. Every tutor passes our grading test first: their grading has to match the College Board's scoring guidelines at least 90% of the time.

How answers come back: graded by a person, point by point, by the next day.

Three things an hour a week can't give you

The 9-to-10 Night Room

The hardest homework happens at night. By then, most help is closed. So we staff that hour.

A live AP tutor waits in an open online homework room, 9–10pm ET, Monday to Saturday. When homework gets hard, your kid drops in, asks, gets unstuck, and logs off.

No appointment. No extra charge. It's shared, and it comes on top of the two sessions. The tutor asks questions until your kid finds the step. We never do the homework for them.

The Night Room: 9–10pm ET, Monday to Saturday.

The Sunday report, and one person for everything else

“The parents can expect accountability and transparency, but leave the details to someone else.”A parent, on a parenting forum

Every Sunday, five lines land on your phone: this week, the trend number, one win, one thing we're watching, and what's next. Want the detail? Ask, and we'll send a short PDF of the week.

And one person, your Family Success Manager, handles everything that isn't the teaching. A reschedule. A question about the report. A worry.

The 24-Hour Gap Map, before you pay anything

Most help starts by going over the topic again. Nobody looks closely at the test. We start there.

Your kid does a 45-minute diagnostic with a live AP tutor, holding the pen the whole time. Within 24 hours of the diagnostic, you get one page: the 2–3 skills costing points with the question numbers, the score this test could have been, a plan for the next test, and your kid's marked test, every point explained.

It also answers the question the school won't: fight or drop. We coach kids to win the class they're in. If the honest answer is drop, we say so, and we show you how to do it with the least damage to the GPA.

It's a $497 product, and it's free, because we won't tutor a gap we haven't measured.

How the Gap Map works

A.R. · AP Chemistry · Unit 3 test · 71/100 · written Oct 7

Where the points went

  1. 1. Setup. Q4, Q7. Right answer, no work shown. 5 points.
  2. 2. The “because.” Q9. Right conclusion, no reasoning written. 3 points.
  3. 3. Time. Q12–13 left blank. 6 points.

Points, by cause

Time 6

29 points lost. 14 of them on chemistry already known.

Worked example

Q9 as written: 1 of 4. Q9 with the reasoning: 4 of 4.

Next test: Thursday, Oct 29

  • Each week until then: 2 timed sets, setup written out every time
  • Monday, Oct 26: a short mock, timed like the test
  • Every “explain” question: write the “because”
  • Leave alone: Lewis structures (already solid)

The Same-Night Stuck Line.

Stuck outside the Night Room? Your kid sends a photo of the problem on WhatsApp. The same day or the next working day, we send back a short walkthrough or a step-by-step guide for that step. It shows the method, and your kid finishes the problem. We answer 1–10pm ET, Monday to Saturday.

Three guarantees, every condition in writing

“My daughter got 2 after paying $4k for this program.”A parent in a parents' group, about a different prep program

Parents have been burned before. So here is every promise we make, and every condition, before you pay anything.

Next test higher, or we work free.

The Next-Test-or-We-Work-Free Guarantee

Your kid attends the sessions, does the weekly practice, and shares the graded test. If the first classroom test after you join isn't higher than the one before, we keep working free until the next test (about four weeks).

It's measured against your kid's own last test. If the curve or the format changed, we compare raw scores. If the test doesn't come home, our own timed unit test counts instead.

14 days to see it from the inside.

The 14-Day See-It-From-Inside Guarantee

For any reason, one message gets you a full refund within 48 hours. And if your kid isn't engaging by day 7, we tell you first.

A 4 or 5 in May, or every payment from January comes back.

The 4-or-5-or-Spring-Is-Free Guarantee

For families who pay January through May in advance. Your kid attends 90% of the sessions and turns in 80% of the weekly practice. They take every full mock exam held after they join, and share their graded tests. If the May score is below a 4, every payment from January comes back. If you paid January through May in advance and you cancel, we refund every month that hasn't started yet.

We check these each month and tell you where your kid stands. It isn't offered to families who join after February 1. After that, there isn't enough time before May to promise it.

Why we can: we grow when parents tell other parents. One unhappy family costs us more than any refund. We'd rather refund an unhappy family than keep one. Our terms repeat these guarantees word for word, with nothing added.

Questions about the program and the price

All the questions, answered

What happens if we decide to join?

On the results call, you pick a fixed time slot that's open. The first month is charged when you join, then once a month on the same date.

The first session is usually within a week.

Is there a contract? How do we cancel?

No contract. It's month to month: tell us before the next billing date, and you aren't charged again.

In the first 14 days, one message gets you a full refund within 48 hours.

Is there a discount?

No. Not for anyone. Every family pays the published price. That's why it's published.

How much of my kid's week does it take?

Two 50-minute sessions and short timed practice sets. The Night Room is optional: 9–10pm ET, Monday to Saturday.

It's meant to replace the hours that weren't working, not add to them.

What if my kid has to miss a session?

Tell your Family Success Manager at least 24 hours ahead, and we'll move it to another day that week or the next. Each family can move up to two sessions a month.

Can we pause, for a trip or a break?

Yes. While you're away, you keep the same tutor and the same time slot for 25% of the monthly fee.

Does the tutor know my kid's class?

The sessions follow your kid's own class: the teacher's syllabus and every test that comes home. We get ready for that teacher's next test, not a textbook's.

What if the teacher grades unfairly?

The next-test guarantee measures your kid against their own last test. If it isn't higher, we keep working free until the next one.

And in May, the written answers are scored by the College Board's readers, not by the teacher.

A second subject, or a brother or sister?

A second AP subject in the same family is $497 a month, for the same student or for a brother or sister.

Their Gap Map is free, and we'll tell you honestly if they need anything at all.

How do we pay?

Monthly, by bank transfer (ACH). Your invoice comes by email, and your receipt within one business day.

What if we join later in the year?

No matter when you join, the first milestone is the next test, and the next-test guarantee covers it. The 4-or-5 guarantee is open to families who join by February 1.
